As much as there have been times this year when I’ve felt that time was standing still, it nevertheless seems crazy to think we are entering the last quarter of the year.  Yet here we are.  Only 33 days until the US election (and after this morning’s news let’s hope we’ll be spared any repeats of Tuesday night), and no doubt TV advertising is about to be taken over by adverts for Christmas.

I’ve ummed and ahhed about including this next one too. Firstly, it’s a long read.  Secondly, it revolves around Turkish baths (though the photos astounded me at how beautiful they are) and thirdly it’s a sensitive subject matter.  In the end, I’ve decided to include it because I think it is beautifully written and is one of those pieces you can read and lose yourself in completely.  And you’re all over 18 so hopefully won’t be offended.  [Leslie Jamison 8 min read]
