I can honestly say I never struggle to find pieces to include in this weekly post, but this week there was an embarrassment of riches, so a few more links than normal. Feel free to skip any which don’t appeal 

Let’s kick off with my book review for January [5 min read]

In my first financial services job, at Hargreaves Lansdown, Peter Hargreaves once said something which has stuck with me for the last 30 years. “Buy the income and the capital will look after itself”. This was back in the days when income funds such as Prolific High Income, Perpetual High Income and many, many others, proved that was absolutely the right thing to do, especially if those dividends were reinvested.

The growth of tech stocks during the noughties caused this point of view to fall out of favour, but I think there’s still a good case for income stocks in any diversified portfolio. This infographic explains further [5 min read]
